Ginkgo is a genus that consists of highly unusual non-flowering plants. It also has an extinct species known as Ginkgo Biloba that is regarded to be a living fossil. It is also known as maidenhair trees which are tall, slender, picturesque deciduous trees having fan-shaped leaves. It is native to East China, where it had been revered by various Buddhist monks and was planted near temples.
